Celebration of Betty’s Life will be at 10:30am on Friday September 13, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL.
Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Thursday September 12, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Crawford County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.
Betty passed away on Sunday September 8, 2019 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.
She was born in Paxton, IL on May 25, 1949 to Bernard and Louise (Oakley) Nichols. She married Terry Gish who preceded her in death.
Betty had worked at the First National Bank in Oblong as a teller for many years, retiring in 1999. She had also worked for the past 20 years as the Office Manager at Big 5 Auto Repair. She was a member of the Newton High School class of 1967. She loved to collect vintage perfume bottles and table lighters. She also loved going to antique stores and flea markets and enjoyed listening to Irish folk music.
She is survived by a daughter Dee Goodwin, Newton, IL; two grandchildren Shelby Mooney, Newton, IL and Kelsey and Alex Gano, Denver, Co. She is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law Barb Mitchell, Newton, IL, Sandy and Dale Bower, Newton, IL and Judy and John Weaver, Ridge Farm, IL; her life partner Robert Barker, Oblong, IL, along with several nieces and nephews and her cat Fred.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Terry Gish and her cat Winker.
